Landlord registers: Government commits to explore national register

Back in the autumn, we published research on landlord registers, calling for a national landlord register, and making technical recommendations for implementing it successfully.

Our research was backed by campaigners Generation Rent and the Renters’ Reform Coalition, and covered in the Observer and the Mirror.

We’re pleased to see that in today’s Levelling Up White Paper, the Government has committed to ‘exploring a National Landlord Register’.

This is a crucial first step towards improving data on the private rented sector, and improving standards for tenants.

We’ll be continuing to work in this area - do get in touch if you’re interested in our work, and read our research on national landlord registers.
